Secret Calgary: Return of the King Eddy

The National Music Centre was happy to support in the research for this TELUS Optik Local documentary on the King Eddy by director Laura O’Grady.

The King Edward Hotel was Calgary’s “Home of the Blues,” a legendary club that hosted some of the world’s best musicians. When the Eddy was condemned and doomed for demolition, loyal patrons vowed to keep the club alive.

While the King Eddy is not yet open seven days a week, the National Music Centre is piloting more programming in 2016/2017, and has plans to make it available as an event space.
