Supergroup Mounties, comprised of Hawksley Workman, Ryan Dahle (Age of Electric & Limblifter) and Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), make stops in Calgary and Vancouver this week as part of their Thrash Rock Legacy Tour.

The band’s critically-hailed debut, Thrash Rock Legacy, released earlier this year on Light Organ Records, landed the trio on the Polaris Music Prize Long List and won them a Sirius XM Independent Radio Award for Emerging Artist of the Year in 2014.

As noted in Mounties’ bio, the record is a culmination of improvised jam sessions, or “what Dahle calls ‘songs from zero,’ improvised from the ground-up—Workman on drums, Bays and Dahle on an array of vintage guitars and keyboards—and captured to tape once the three bandmates were finished throwing ideas at each other in an old Airstream trailer sitting outside.”

“Headphones” appears on Mounties’ excellent debut.

If you’re in Calgary or Vancouver, catch the band on their remaining tour dates.

Thrash Rock Legacy Tour Dates:

Dec. 11, Calgary, Alta., Flames Central w/Phantogram
Dec. 12, Vancouver, B.C., The Starlite  w/Phantogram
Dec. 14, Vancouver, B.C., The Vogue Theatre w/Phantogram
