Cree country artist Jade Turner (member of the Misipawistik Cree Nation in Treaty 5) shares how songwriting became her safe haven from being bullied as a young girl, and how she uses music as a tool to talk about difficult topics and connect with other Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
In 2022, Jade Turner, along with four other emerging Indigenous artists, converged at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, for a five-day intensive artist development program that offered career guidance, mentorship from music industry leaders, and the opportunity for artists to connect with each other and share ideas.
Sponsored by TD, the OHSOTO’KINO Music Incubator is supporting the next wave of Indigenous talent and amplifying Indigenous stories through music.
