Kevin McAuley, builder and president of Goulais River Guitars, has a knack for building instruments out of odd materials, and the King Eddy gave him some interesting materials to work with. He crafted three guitars in honour of the venue’s 120-year history, including a four-string model made from a recovered Exit sign pulled from the original building’s demolition.
The guitars will now be incorporated into NMC’s living collection, allowing artists to use them for the creation of new music or live performances. Thanks to McAuley’s efforts, pieces of the original King Eddy will continue to make music for years to come.
