OHSOTO’KINO: Raven Reid Channels Her Experiences as Sixties Scoop Survivor Through Music

“In music, I find healing and a space where I can actually be myself.”

Indigenous folk singer-songwriter Raven Reid, originally from the Mikisew Cree First Nation in the Northwest Territories and now based in Saskatoon, channels her experiences as a Sixties Scoop survivor into raw, heartfelt songwriting, finding healing in the power of music. Hear her share the story behind her song, “Stumbling Fool.”

In 2025, Reid joined a group of Indigenous artists from across Canada at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, for a five-day intensive artist development program. The experience provided career guidance, mentorship from leading music industry professionals, and meaningful opportunities for collaboration and creative exchange among the artists.
