Powwow and round dance artist Marlon Deschamps reflects on his roots in the Cree Nation of Maskwacis, Alberta, a community renowned for its drumming traditions; his work with the Grammy-nominated drum group Northern Cree, and his upcoming solo album, recorded at the National Music Centre through the OHSOTO’KINO Recording Bursary.
The conversation offers a heartfelt look at how culture, family, and community pride continue to guide his artistry. Filmed in conversation with David McLeod, Chair of NMC’s National Indigenous Programming Advisory Committee.
